Valerian species
Valeriana officinalis - Valerian
Flowers lilac, sometimes almost white, 5 joined petals, 3 stamens. Leaves made up of several toothed leaflets on each side and one at the end. Leaves in opposite pairs, lower leaves long-stalked.
Valeriana pyrenaica - Pyrenean Valerian
This is a tall plants of woodland edges and hedgerows. The leaves are ovate to sub-orbicular with a cordate base. The stem leaves are similar but smaller and off with small lateral leaflets.
