Alchemilla - Lady's-mantle
There are four species of Alchemilla found commonly in Lanarkshire. The differences are given in the table at the end.
Alchemilla mollis – Garden Lady's-mantle. This is a garden escape and is more robust than other species, hairy with large, distinctive, hairless flowers on hairless stems..
Alchemilla glabra – Smooth Lady's-mantle is as the name suggests nearly hairless.
Alchemilla xanthochlora – Intermediate Lady's-mantle tends to be smaller and is ‘hairy below’, that is underneath the leaves and lower stems.
Alchemilla filicaulis - Hairy Lady's-mantle is the smallest and is hairy all over. The leaves are smaller and so have fewer teeth.
