Dactylis glomerata - Cocksfoot
This is a common grass. In flower it is unmistakable, the way the lowest flowering branch sticks out on its own gives the plant its name. It has densely tufted sheaths, flattened towards the base, ligule a bluntly pointed membrane 4-9mm. Glumes unequal and the lemmas hairy on their keel with a short awn.
